What is tuning?
Tuning is the process by which fueling parameters are modified to improve the operation of an engine. The primary goals are to increase power and torque, obtain smooth power delivery, and ensure engine longevity. Because an engine's operation is dependent on the environment in which it functions, as well as fuel source and performance modifications, stock fueling may not be sufficient. I employ a simple process of datalogging, analyzing, and modifying fuel values to modify stock mapping. Tuning can also often include the modification of timing values. Because I do not work directly on the motorcycle with a steady-state dyno, I do not offer tuning of any timing maps.

What can be accomplished by tuning?

Is it right for my bike?
Virtually any motorcycle can benefit from a custom remap. With that said, it is important to understand that modifying fueling can void the warranty on your motorcycle. It can also break emissions laws in your country. To this end, any of my tuning services are to be used only on off-road or race bikes.

Can you tune 08+ Buell motorcycles? I thought they weren't capable of being tuned?
Buell motorcycles produced from 2008 onwards use the DDFI3 systems. Although some programs are restricted to DDFI1 and DDFI2 systems, some are not. I am capable of tuning all year-model Buells that are fuel-injected.

What motorcycles can you tune?
Currently, I can tune all year-model Buells that are fuel-injected. I am working to expand my offerings to Triumph and KTM motorcycles, as well.

Are there any risks in tuning my bike?
There are always risks when modifying your bike from stock configuration. Though I am well-trained to provide these tuning services, and have not had any trouble yet, it is important for the client to understand that they accept all responsibility for damage incurred during the process. I do not offer any warranty for my work beyond the technical support I provide.

Is tuning legal?
Tuning is to be used only for off-road or race bikes. In many countries, modifying fuel values breaks emissions laws, meaning that operating the motorcycle on public roads is illegal. My services are only to be applied to motorcycles not intended for use in the public.

Do you provide any warranty for your work?
I do not provide any warranty for my work. I am well-trained to provide these tuning services, and have not been met with any difficulties yet. With that said, there is always an inherent risk to modifying an ECM. To help account for this, I provide technical support to clients who have purchased certain packages. Please see the Services or Policies page for more details.

What sort of technical support is available after the completion of a tuning package?
This is entirely dependent on which tuning package is purchase. I provide lifetime technical support for the purchase of Tuning Packages 2 or 3. I provide limited technical support for Tuning Package 1: I am available to change maps or return the ECM to stock configuration within reason. I provide limited technical support for the Webinar Package: I am available for minor troubleshooting. Please see the Policies page for more details.
